Maharshi Markandeya in Dwapar has explained the secret of Moksha and spiritual happiness experienced in the worship of Lalita Devi.
Prayag the king pg Teertha is Known as Lalita Peetha in the holy scriptures. It is one of the most important Shaktipeethas and even the importance of Prayag is largely due to the presense of "Shivapriya Maa Lalitambika Devi" It is said in the puranas that the 51 places where the organsof Mata Sati had fallen are today well established as siddhipeethas. The story related with these peethas states that once king Daksha(Father of Maa Sati) organised a great yagna but he did not invited his Daughter and the son in-law(Lord Shiva). Despite Sord Shiva restraining Maa Sati she went to yagya place and found no seat for her husband. Seeing this she lost self-control and jumped into the yagya and extinguished herself.
When Lord Shiva came to know about the incidence he anihilated the yagya. Taking her body on his shoulders he started "TANDAVA" all around the earth. On this the gods became frightened and went to Lord Vishnu and appealed to him to claim the angry Lord Shiva and control "Tandava". Lord Vishnu cut the Sati Devi's body with his Sudarshan Chakra. All the places where the parts of Sati Devi fell became recognised as Shaktipeetha's; Lord Shiva came to all these places and shed tears of sorrow and said that sati devi will dwell in all those places with "Bhava - Bhairav" and will help the devotees.
It is quite fortunate for prayag that the fingers os sati devi are belived to have fallen in Meerpur(INDIA) and hence Maa isworshipped in the name of Siddhapeetha Maa Bhagwati Lalita Devi"
